Fusion consultants are trained to identify and correct inefficiencies in the organization of work. In one instance, a machine was positioned so the employee using it was forced to turn around completely to get new material.
Before – 5 seconds per piece
This repetitive motion caused discomfort to employees, resulting in decreased productivity. A Fusion consultant clocked the employee’s maximum productivity at 5 seconds per piece. Productivity diminished as fatigue set in. The consultant repositioned the machinery so that the materials were located at the side of the employee instead of behind him. Materials could be processed in 3.3 seconds as opposed to 5 seconds. This marked a 34% productivity improvement!
After – 3.3 seconds per piece
This factory has been in business for more than 10 years, and no one had considered moving the machine.
